General Conference and a Month of Episodes

This month has been full of challenges!

It seemed to begin at the very start of the month. On April 2nd, Maggie injured both of her hands. For eleven days, they were presumed broken.

When the second set of x-rays determined that the Priesthood Blessing had done its job and the injuries were soft tissue, rather than boney, the treatment plan changed.

During all of those wonderful challenges,ย  we DID manage to produce an episode reacting to General Conference.ย

Here’s that episode.ย  (Blog post continued below the embedded episode).

After several hiccups, we were able to record episodes for the first two weeks of April, but those episodes were delayed a bit in being published.

In her distress about the situation of timing, Maggie received reassurance from the Holy Spirit that these two episodes would be right on time for the people who needed to view and listen to them.

Here is our Easter episode:

This episode, “Called to Preach His Gospel,” helped us all remember why we are here to do this:

Then, this week, we uploaded the last few episodes for April!

First, last week’s lesson, reminding us if we are “Not One” we are “Not His.”

Finally, we caught up for a moment with this week’s important lesson about “His Law to Govern His Church.”

In and amongst all of the recording and injuries, we have added a team member behind the scenes.

We shall give a bit more background about the angel who joined us in a post soon to come. For now, please know that Tiffany is loved and welcomed here and will be easing up a bit of the load soon!!

Thanks for joining us! We hope your week ahead is full of the Love and Lighte of Jesus Christ!

Christ Gathers Us and We Catch Up!

“Just be patient and just keep trusting God. Things work out. Its on God’s timetable, not ours.” A quote from Andrew in this week’s episode of Strangers No More

Maggie comes out and shares her Hard of Hearing disability and requests more help and more members to add to our team to improve accessibility for all.

Andrew introduced the lesson and after having struggled with remembering the name of a hymn during the introduction, he quickly reminds himself and the audience what the name of that tune was.

When the Strangers get down to the lesson, “The Gathering of Israel,” Dennis gets carried away with a touch of gossip, before sharing “The Plan of Salvation,” as taught by his missionaries not that long ago.

In a revelatory explanation, Bradley shared how the Plan of Salvation is not only about us as individuals, but also relates to how we interact in relationships.

After the discussion of the lesson, Bradley shared some facinating insights about how “The Plan” is described throughout the Book of Mormon causing us all to reflect a bit.

Maggie shared how moving forward with the Gospel fills her life with love.

Watch below and you’ll see it all!

To study President Nelson’s talk (as Maggie challenges at the end of the show), here’s a link to the talk: A New Normal, October 2020.

Sustaining The Church Through its Members

In this week’s episode, Andrew, Dennis, Bradley and Maggie discuss topics ranging from what happens when you get a “whatever pass,” to give a talk in church, to policies and procedures of The Church vs Doctrine.

Just a bit of light discussion for your Sunday enjoyment!

Seriously though, do enjoy as the Strangers talk about what Common Consent means as well as what it means to be single in The Church of Jesus Christ in these Latter days.

Disabilities & Delays

Hi friendly Strangers! Maggie here, breaking the fourth wall. I have to express some humility here, and request a bit of assistance.

You see, the promptings for this show came from the Holy Spirit, to myself and a few others, but I’m not of the opinion that we have compiled our team completely as of yet.

The vision I received about this show has been one of inclusion and compassion, yet I’ve failed to express that same compassion for my own weaknesses.

In a desire to reach all, and having experienced multiple situations where the lack of accurate captioning made it impossible for me to comprehend a show, I set about attempting to make certain that all of our captions were accurate and there was a transcript to download.

The learning curve to provide such wasn’t that great, and I was able to learn the YouTube Studio and learned that I could start with their automated captions.

After a few weeks, I discovered that the process I was using was not one that was appropriate for my disabled hands. I was incurring a greater level of pain. So much so that I had stopped working on my book.

At the same time, I experienced an exacerbation of my mental illness that coincided with the anniversary of our collective trauma. The result was a disruption in The Force.

Well, at least a disruption in the bond that holds this show together. But as we have been reminded by our Apostles, that gold used to repair broken things, our broken vessels, our broken friendships, our trust, we can use that repair to make it all stronger than it had ever been before.

We are looking for more members of our team. We invite you to contact us at contact@Strangers-No-More.com if you would like to lend a hand.

This is a volunteer effort. Maybe even a ministry, if you will. But in our desire to be accessible to all, we need to respect our own limitations.

Although I NEED captions and transcripts, that doesn’t mean I’m the best person to provide that service. It would be nice if automated technology was a bit more inclusive and accurate. But I’m sure that is quickly on its way.

This week’s episode will be posted later today!

Sorry for the wait. It will have automated captions available, so please let us know of any glaring errors that we can go in and quickly edit.

Thank you for your interest!

We hope your weekend is full of the Love and Lighte of Jesus Christ!

We love you and so does God!

Also, if you haven’t had the chance to watch last week’s episode (yep, that was me who failed to put up a blog about it!), you can enjoy that below:

Elvis and Sacrifice

As we head into the week when RootsTech will be free and completely online for the first time ever, three of the four hosts were in the mood to talk about their family history!

Week 9 Come Follow Me lesson, “The Worth of Souls,” found the hosts harkening through their ancestries for their worth!

Dennis was in RARE form during this particular episode. Even if you usually enjoy our podcast form, we encourage your to check out the video JUST to watch Dennis’s antics. It was a bit distracting, though, even for the hosts.

During the roundtable of the week’s events, Bradley shared some facinating questions he asked his new Bishopric.

Dennis started talking about his family history experiences with Relative Finder and then Andrew and Maggie both shared about their relationships to Elvis Presley.

Three of the hosts had no idea of Andrew’s background with Elvis.

In a surprising preview of how the strangers will be discussing the Word of Wisdom this summer, alcohol and cannabis were discussed as subjects of choices and what we sacrafice to bring souls to God.

Watch below and you’ll see!

The Witness Significance

This week as Maggie, Dennis, Andrew and Bradley fought their way through technical difficulties to share their impressions of Week 8 Come Follow Me lesson, “Stand as a Witness,” they were all witnesses to God’s hand.

Dennis experienced a revelation during our opening prayer and was so excited he didn’t even wait to be introduced!

Bradley shared some interesting happenings from Color the Campus and Andrew updated us with his Ward’s unique approach to their Ward Mission Plan!

Maggie was busy the week before this was recorded, presenting this podcast to her Relief Society via PowerPoint and Zoom.

During the lesson, all four hosts shared their unique answers to the question, “What is a witness,” while Andrew shared a story of a witness to the Book of Mormon we don’t often hear about!

Unless you thought we were finished with Christmas (not going to happen with Mr. Christmas on the Zoom panel), Andrew shares a story about having seen Santa Claus as a child. What does this have to do with our Come Follow Me lesson?

Watch below and you’ll see!

Ministering of Angels

In the most emotional episode in 2021, “Upon Fellow Servants,” Andrew shares what he believes ministering of angels means.

What does that phrase mean to you?

Maggie prays a considerable amount when working on the shows during the previous week. In February 8th’s episode, she asks the three male hosts some pointed questions she has been preparing with the help of the Holy Spirit.

She was not prepared for the answers…
…or how those answers would affect her.

The scriptural referances contained within Doctrine and Covenants 1213 and Jospeh Smith History 1:66-75 outline the restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood and with it the saving ordinances of The Church of Jesus Christ.

This discussion went on for nearly an hour, with a second cringe episode in the works to follow up!

Enjoy!
